Abashiri Prison
Abashiri Prison became nationally famous with the film series Abashiri Bangaichi starring Ken Takakura. Visitors are only allowed to visit the red-brick gate and the prison work product exhibition area. The Abashiri Prison Museum, where the former Abashiri Prison has been preserved, is a five-minute drive from the current prison and can be visited.
